Lord, help me to understand,

Walking in my valley

It always brings me back to the night I stared into your presence

And thanked you for where you had brought me.

My soul is enriched by these experiences

But troubled by what I feel

I can put on the mask and smile

My heart is truly grounded

But what I experienced, what I feel has no words

And each time I am in my valley

To gaze across soft pools of blue

To yearn for the gentle winds to caress my skin

To hear the thunderous happiness surrounding me

Why has this stuck with my spirit?

And when I visit my valley, why does it respond with such love?

Such connection?

Rippling on my horizon, the deep waves surface every now and then

And my heart soars

And my love deepens

And my valley will never know how much it means to me.

Being nervous about speaking my mind.

Being nervous thinking I look like a fool.

A one track mind about what’s best for mine

Tunnel vision

Realizing that we are connected

Community

Education

Joking that I channeled the passion of a woman who taught for over 37 years

Joking that I stole my husband’s mojo

Knowing something much deeper that guided me

Speaking the same hurts, concerns and passions

What’s best for my child

Is best for all

Celestial Wish

Elevator shooting me

Speed of Light-Heaven

Draped in black except

Shimmer of gold left in her wake

Essence of Gypsy

Silence I don’t get

Whirlwind of noise that invade

Mind cluttered chaos

Bursts of rays, sunshine

Even with clouds of doubt fall

Life waits for no one

Gray Clouds mist above

Separating hidden myths

Beware of the night

Reflections in water

Mirror the stirrings in soul

Pain can sometimes leak

If its one thing that I have learned with my poetry writing is that writing Haikus are very hard. Hopefully however, you will enjoy this series of poems. It’s also an exercise in writing poetry, the more I write, the more I can write longer stanzas.
